From 2004 to 2010 Jana studied Multimedia/VR-Design at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle. Her diploma was devoted to indie games and the German hobbyist scene. In 2011 she founded RAT KING together with Friedrich Hanisch. They love to create weird first-person experiences that enable players with more freedom than walking through tubes. As the art director, her emphasis lies on mainstream-incompatible designs, atmosphere and characters. RAT KING's recent first-person exploration puzzler TRI was rewarded with several awards such as the German Computer Games Award 2015 for 'Best Youth Game' and The Golden Sparrow for 'Best Indie Games4Kids'. Meanwhile she founded Indie Arena - a forum and network dedicated to small studios and self-employed developers - together with Martin Nerurkar. Her goal is to bring the different local German scenes together to create more visibility and connect like-minded people. This made her a compendium of the German indie scene.
